O2 Wireless Festival 2008

What: Set in the heart of London, this festival showcases a whole host of cutting edge bands.

Where: Hyde Park, London.

When: Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 July

Line up: Artists include Morrissey, Beck, Guillemots, Dirty Pretty Things, Fatboy Slim, Underworld, Robyn, Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls and Bowling for Soup.

Cost: A standard day ticket costs £45 with VIP and Club weekend ticket options costing between £263 and £343.

Transport: The nearest tube stations are Marble Arch and Bond Street (Central Line) and Green Park and Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly Line). Several bus routes run to Hyde Park from North, South and West London.

T in the Park

What: Music fans will once again descend upon Scotland to enjoy a whole host of top live artists.

Where: Balado, Kinross-shire

When: Friday 11 to Sunday 13 July

Line up: So far, confirmed acts include The Verve, KT Tunstall, Newton Faulkner, Rage Against the Machine, The Fratellis, The Kooks, Biffy Clyro, REM and Amy Winehouse.

Transport: There will be a Citylink shuttle bus which visitors can buy tickets for ahead of the event. The nearest airports are Glasgow and Edinburgh, and this region of Scotland is accessible by train.

Camping: Camping is available for those who purchase a weekend ticket.

Parking: Parking spaces are limited, and a ticket must be bought in advance from Ticketmaster.

Oxegen

What: Ireland's annual multi-stage festival returns with a great line up.

Where: Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare

When: Friday 11 to Sunday 13 July

Line up: Confirmed acts include REM, The Verve, Amy Winehouse, The Prodigy, Kings of Leon, Editors, Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis, The Feeling, Kate Nash and The Zutons.

Cost: A three day ticket without camping costs 199.50 and day tickets cost 99.50

Camping: Camping is available to those who have purchased a weekend ticket with camping.

Parking: A shuttle service will be running to the site, while another bus service will be serving destinations around Ireland.

Transport: Festival goers who buy four weekend passes are entitled to a free car park pass, issued on a first come, first served basis. The nearest airport is Dublin.

Latitude Festival

What: Not just music, this festival also invites you to enjoy an inspiring mix of film, art, theatre and cabaret.

Where: Henham Park, Southwold, Sunrise Coast, Suffolk.

When: Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 July

Line up: Franz Ferdinand, Sigar Ros and Interpol will be headlining the music stage, with other acts including Interpol, Elbow, Death Cab For Cutie and The Breeders.

Cost: An adult weekend ticket costs £130 and a day ticket costs £55.

Camping: Camping is included in the price of a weekend ticket.

Parking: Car parking is included in the price of the ticket.

Transport: The nearest train station is Halesworth. Shuttle buses will be running from Ipswich. Henham Park is between the A12 and A145 north of Blythburgh in Suffolk.

Camp Bestival  

What: Bestival's new sister festival Camp Bestival provides a playful combination of 1950's holiday camp, nostalgic acts and cutting edge artists.

Where: Lulworth Castle, Dorset.

When: Friday 18 to Sunday 20 July.

Line up: Confirmed acts include Kate Nash, The Flaming Lips, Chuck Berry, The Imagined Village, Alice & the Majesty, Bastila, Beardyman, Billy Bragg and Black Kids.

Cost: Tickets cost £120 for adults and £60 for children for the three days.

Camping: Included in the price of the weekend ticket. Luxury tents, tipis, yurts, bivouacs, airstreams and gypsy caravans are available for hire.

Glade Festival

What: The Glade Festival has grown from its Glastonbury roots to also provide dance lovers with a weekend of top artists from the Electronic Dance Music scene.

Where: South of England. The location is only revealed to ticket holders.

When: Friday 18 to Sunday 20 July

Line up: Acts include Dubfire, Pendulum, Atomic Hooligan, DJ Friction, Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Eddy Temple-Morris, James Holden, Meat Katie, Quiet Village and Utah Saints.

Cost: Tickets cost £125 for the weekend, with campervan tickets costing £45.

Camping: Camping is free. A Teepee can be booked for those wanting an alternative camping experience.

Parking: A 'green tax' of £5 will be charged for cars with only one or two people.

Transport: A regular bus service will run from Thatcham station. Some festival tickets will be on sale which include return bus travel from London.

Wakestock

What: Undoubtedly the place to be for wakeboard obsessives. Held in North Wales and Oxfordshire, both events provide festival goers with an energetic mix of wakeboarding and great live music.

Where: Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire and Abersoch, Cardigan Bay, North Wales.

When: Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June in Blenheim Palace and Friday 4 to Sunday 6 July in Abersoch.

Line up: The line up for both locations includes Groove Armada, Mark Ronson, The Streets and Funeral for a Friend, with Calvin Harris and Supergrass among artists at Blenheim Palace and Duffy and The Hoosiers at Abersoch.

Cost: A weekend ticket costs £85, plus booking fee

Camping: A weekend ticket including camping can be purchased for £110 plus booking fee.  Campervans cost £40.

Transport: For Blenheim:  The nearest train station is Oxford.  Blenheim is a short drive from the A34, which runs between the M40 and the M4. 

For Abersoch:  The closest train station is Pwllheli. A free bus will be running from this station to the site. Alternatively, there will be a bus service running from Bangor station.

Parking: Parking costs £5 per vehicle in advance and £10 on the day.

The Lovebox London Weekender

What: Eight stages, 30 acres, two days.

Where: Victoria Park, London

When: Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 July

Line up: Artists include The Flaming Lips, Goldfrapp, Groove Armada, Jack Penate, The Human League, Young Knives and The Glimmers.

Cost: Tickets cost £38.50 for a day and £65 for a weekend ticket plus booking fee.

Global Gathering

What: Global Gathering is one of the world's biggest dance music festivals, featuring huge DJ and dance acts from around the world.

Where: Long Marston Airfield, near Stratford-upon-Avon

When: Friday 25 to Saturday 26 July.

Line up: DJ's include Mark Ronson, Moby, Roisin Murphy, Roger Sanchez, Robyn, Sam Sparro, Erick Morillo, Fedde Le Grand, ATB, Axwell, Eric Prydz and Sven Vath.

Cost: A weekend ticket costs £115 plus booking fee and weekend VIP admission costs £165 plus booking fee.

Camping: Camping is only available to those who have purchased a weekend ticket.

Transport: The nearest train station is Stratford-upon-Avon, with a shuttle bus running directly to the site.

Parking: Car parking is available.

GuilFest

What: A small, independent festival set in the beautiful surroundings of Stoke Park.

Where: Stoke Park, Guildford

When: Friday 4 to Sunday 6 July

Line up: The Levellers, Blondie and Australian Pink Floyd Show will be headlining.

Cost: Tickets cost £40 day or £90 weekend. Under 16s pay a reduced amount.

Camping:  Camping can be purchased for an extra £10 per person on top of the weekend price.

Transport:  The nearest train station to the site is Guildford London Road; although trains on the main London to Portsmouth line do not stop here, so you'll need to get a bus or a taxi from the town centre station.  Guildford is a few miles of Junction 10 of the M25.

Parking: Parking is available on site.

WOMAD Festival

What: This festival brings together and celebrates an eclectic mix of music, arts and dance from countries and cultures around the world.

Where: Charlton Park, Malmesbury, Wiltshire

When: Friday 25 to Sunday 27 July

Line up: Artists include Altai Kai, Bedouin Jerry Can Band, Chic and David D'Or.

Cost: A weekend ticket costs £125 (students £100) and includes camping. Day tickets can be purchased for the Sunday and cost £50.

Camping: Included in the price of a weekend ticket.

Transport:  The nearest railway station is Swindon.  There are no details of transport links between the station and the festival ground.  Malmesbury is just north of Junction 17 of the M4.

Parking: Parking is available on site.
