Pregnant loving

Question

I'm pregnant and worried that my partner is going off me because we don't make love as much as we used to. I've reassured him it won't harm me or the baby, but he seems to be acting differently towards me. What should I do?

Answer

What you describe is very common and it's natural that it's making youfeel insecure and neglected.

Lots of couples find that their sex life does change during pregnancy. Often, it is because the man either consciously or unconsciously is afraid of hurting the baby, or even of having sex in the baby's presence. Your first step might be to continue to reassure him that it's perfectly safe to have sex while you're pregnant and that it won't harm the baby in any way.

He may also be taking time to come to terms with the changes in your body. Again, unconsciously, perhaps he now sees you as a pregnant woman, the carrier of his child, rather than a purely sexual being, as he did before.

It's worth talking to him about how you feel. Try not to be accusatory, and just him know you feel neglected, that you still feel sexy and would like to have sex. You may have to accept that he's not up for it every night - but at least you'll know and stop worrying that it's your fault. Communication is the key here.
