The audio small print

Here's the guide to what you can and shouldn't do with our content.

Sharing is good

Here at TheSite.org we believe that sharing content is good - after all we want as many people to hear our podcasts as possible. It's for this reason that we distribute our podcasts as widely as we can (check out our first torrent for an early example).

However, we still have certain restrictions on what can be done with our audio content. Much of it features advice that can't be taken out of context, and includes participation from members of the public who've agreed to take part but wouldn't particularly appreciate finding out their voices have been used on an underground ska mix!

Because of this, we've picked a Creative Commons licence that we believe gives everyone permission to share what we've done, whilst protecting the information we provide, and the people involved.

Please bear in mind this applies only to the audio content listed on the multimedia page; our current terms and conditions still apply to all other content.

The licence

We've selected the rather long-winded sounding Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unreported license (try saying that three times quickly!). What this means is that:

Sharing: You are free to copy, distribute and transmit the work;

Attribution: You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author - which for us means not altering anything in the title of the audio content or anything in the metadata. Essentially, the audio files still need to say they were made by us;

Non-commercial: You can't use the work commercially. We don't charge for it, so you damn well shouldn't. Anyone who does want to use our content in a commercial setting should contact us first to discuss syndication costs and rights;

No derivative works: You can't alter, transform, or build upon this work. However, if you wanted to use the work as part of something else you can chat to us about it. Again, just contact us to discuss it first.

Redistribution: You should, if redistributing the content, make the licence clear. The best way to do this is with a link to the following page - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ ;

Waiver: Any of these conditions can be waived if you get permission from TheSite.org Towers;

Moral rights: Nothing in this licence impairs or restricts the author's moral rights.

And once again, for good luck, this license applies only to the audio content outlined on the multimedia page, all other content continues to be covered by our current terms and conditions.
