Background:

Ecstasy is made up of a mixture of drugs, including a synthetic drug called MDMA.

It usually comes in tablets of different shapes and sizes. Amounts of MDMA (and therefore effects) will vary.

The effects:

Users tend to experience an initial rush and then, after about 30 minutes, feelings of empathy and increased sensitivity to surroundings. There is also an energy buzz. The effects tend to last three to six hours, followed by a gradual come-down.
