Alcoholic drinks range in strength and are measured as a percentage (%) per volume. The higher the %, the stronger the effect. They can also be measured in 'units'.
The effects:
- For most people alcohol has a relaxing effect;
- Speech can become slurred, co-ordination affected and emotions heightened;
- Effects (including hangovers the next day) depend on gender, body weight, mood and how recently you ate;
- Problems can arise when people drink to try and blot out problems.
