Nigel Davies

Nigel Davies is the founder and director of Bristol -based 2-D production company, A for Animation (now A Productions). Between 1986 and 1996 he produced animated series, commercials, pop promos and titles for the BBC and ITV networks.  Since 2004 Nigel has been represented by Aardman Animations as a commercials director, leading the 2D team on the multi award-winning short film the ‘Pearce Sisters’. He is currently completing production of a short film for Aardman: ‘Blind Date’.


Yinka Shonibare MBE

Yinka Shonibare, MBE was born in London and moved to Lagos, Nigeria at the age of three. He returned to London to study Fine Art first at the Byam Shaw School of Art, London and then at Goldsmiths College, London where he received his MFA. Shonibare’s work explores issues of race and class through the media of painting, sculpture, photography and, most recently, film.

In 2004, Shonibare was nominated for the Turner Prize and in 2005 was made Member of the Order of the British Empire.  In 2008 Shonibare presented a major retrospective solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Sydney. Shonibare’s installation of ‘Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle’ is scheduled for the Fourth Plinth, Trafalgar Square, in May 2010. Yinka Shonibare, MBE is represented by Stephen Friedman Gallery, London and James Cohan Gallery, New York.

Sarah Gilbert is the features picture editor at The Guardian newspaper. Sarah moved to the Guardian in 2002 where she worked as Picture Editor for Tatler magazine. Previous to this she had a successful career as a freelancer working in the same role for a variety of national newspapers, magazine and book publishers.

Jamie McKelvie is a comics creator living in the London, England. He’s best known for his work on ‘Phonogram: Rue Brittania’, co-created with writer Kieron Gillen. He also created ‘Suburban Glamour’, a four issue mini-series from Image Comics, and has worked on ‘Cable’ and ‘X-Men’ for Marvel, and ‘Gotham Gazette’ for DC. He’s just finished wrapping up the second series of Phonogram, and is about to start the follow up to ‘Suburban Glamour.’

charlie Charlie McDonnell is a 19-year-old YouTube ‘Vlogger’ (Video Blogger) from Bath, known online as   charlieissocoollike. He is the second most subscribed YouTuber in the UK.

After displaying his talent for music on YouTube, Charlie went on to work with BBC Switch’s     ChartJackers, a collaborative project between four YouTube celebrities with the aim of ‘high-jacking’ the UK Singles Chart by releasing a single to raise money for Children In Need.


Matthew Stone

MatthewStone_PortraitMatthew Stone is an artist and shaman based in London. His extended and interrelated practice activates photography, performance, video, drawing, sculpture, writing, curating & lecturing. Following his graduation from Camberwell Art School, Painting, in 2004, he was a formative member of the WOWOW! art collective, exhibiting in artist-led projects and throwing notorious art parties in squatted buildings in South London. Stone is also a long time friend and collaborator with designer Gareth Pugh, providing soundtracks to his shows and films.

In the past few years he has been researching the relevance of OPTIMISM as a method for avant-garde thought and art practice. Weekly artists salons, performances and his interview-based blog “Interconnected Echoes” form the basis for a truly collaborative practice. Recent exhibitions and performances have taken place at the Baltic, the Royal Academy, the ICA and Tate Britain.

Jimi crayonJimi Crayon, artist, designer and film maker is one of the UK’s most exciting up and coming talents. One of only eight artists to have ever painted directly on to the famous white walls of MC&Saatchi, he has painted live at the Tate modern and has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands including Sony, Nike, Reebok, Edding and Casio. He has also directed viral videos for artists including Cheryl Cole. His recent film ‘We Like Colour’ (We Are Pirates) is causing an online storm across the internet.

Ed is a British actor who first came to international attention in 2006 when he was chosen over thousands of other actors for the title role in 20th Century Fox’s Eragon, with Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Robert Carlyle. He has since starred in ITV’s prime time series Echo Beach and in television movies Shirasu Jirô for NHK Japan and Witchville for the SyFy Channel, USA. Besides his acting work, Ed is a partner in film and TV production company Firefly and an ambassador of the UK online charity YouthNet, which provides frank and unbiased information to enable young people to make informed choices in their lives.


Linda Jack

Linda is Youth Policy Adviser on the Financial Capability Strategy for the Financial Services Authority and leads on the work to reach young people not in education employment or training.

A former elected member on Bedford Borough Council and European parliamentary candidate for East of England she is now PPC for Mid Bedfordshire.  She also sits on the Liberal Democrat’s International Relations and Federal Policy Committees and is currently chair of their Youth Policy Working Group.

She takes a keen interest in international affairs and is a trustee of Elijah Trust, a UK charity working on behalf of Palestinian citizens of Israel. She is also a trustee for community development charity Re:generate.
