Will worry

Question

Im worried about my aunt as shes really poorly and no one in the family knows what will happen if she passes away, or who will deal with things as she gets worse.

Answer

If you are concerned about what will happen on your aunt's death, then the first thing that'll happen is that her estate (everything a person owns when they die) will be divided according to her will. If there isn't a will, then the law of intestacy will come in to play and the estate will be divided according to these rules.

If you think that your aunt's affairs will need looking after during her illness, then you may want to talk to her about assigning someone the power of attorney. This will allow her to hand over the control of her affairs to someone while she is unable to deal with things.
