Fraud frustration

I've recently been the victim of credit card fraud. I've told the credit card company and they're investigating the issue. The thing is, they told me that in the meantime I should continue to make the minimum payment on my bills. Is this correct? There wouldn't be anything to pay if the fraudulent purchases hadn't been made.

Credit card companies often ask for people to make the payments while they make an investigation into potential fraud. This ensures that, if they come to the conclusion that there has been no fraud, you would not then have to pay penalties for failing to make payments.

If they come to the conclusion that you are a victim of fraud, they should re-credit the amount to your account. Have you received assurances from the company on this point? If not, it's advisable to clarify the situation with them.
