Question

Is there a time limit on how long I can wait after being sexually assaulted before reporting the crime?

Answer

Serious offences, such as a sexual assault, remain open forever so a sexual assault can be reported many years after the offence was committed.

If you've been affected by sexual assault and would like to talk to someone about what has happened then you can call Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) on 020 8683 3300.

If you need to report a crime then you should contact your local police force, who will be able to help you deal with the situation, no matter how long ago the assault may have occurred.
