Freedom to drink

Question

I'm 16 years old, is it legal for me to go to the pub in the evening and have a soft drink with my parents?

Answer

Under the licensing laws you are entitled to go into the pub and buy non alcoholic drinks yourself and if you're in the restaurant part of a pub you can drink beer, wine and cider. So there are no laws that would stop you drinking a soft drink with your parents, no matter what time of day it is.

The only problem to bear in mind is that a landlord doesn't have to serve anyone unless he chooses to. So even if you can legally drink, it doesn't mean you will automatically be able to. In the end it will come down to the landlord's decision.
