Spot of shaving bother

Question

I'm having a few problems with my eyebrows. I've been shaving them for quite a while and now I've got little spots appearing between my eyebrows where I shaved. It's really annoying and looks horrible - do you know how I can get rid of them?

Answer

It's common for post-shaving regrowth to cause irritation. Shaving can also cause ingrown hairs (where the hair that's growing back gets 'caught' under the skin), resulting in sore and inflamed pimple-like red bumps. Some people, especially those with sensitive skin, find that they are more susceptible to a rash and ingrown hairs.

If the spots are irritating you, it may be best to leave them alone to allow time for the skin to calm down before attempting any further hair removal to minimise any future inflammation.

If you have dark hair the spots could be a result of the shaving not removing the complete hair follicle. The spots may simply be the remaining hair stump of the dark hair follicle showing through your skin.  If this is the case, you could consider another method of hair removal. Why not try plucking your eyebrows, which will completely remove the hair follicle and any trace of the hair, or waxing, which works in the same way.
