Rash decision

Question

Can you tell me how I can get in contact with a dermatologist? I've had a rash on my arms for ages and although my doctor's taken a look she hasn't suggested a way to get rid of it.

I'm really conscious of it and I absolutely hate it so I'd like to see a specialist about it. Can you help?

Answer

Speaking to a skin specialist is certainly the best way to get help with the rash you've got. There are many different skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis, and a specialist will be able to diagnose you properly.

The British Association of Dermatologists hold the details of dermatologists throughout the UK. However, they recommend that a patient is initially referred to a dermatologist by their local doctor (GP).

It's worth remembering that it's highly unlikely others will see the rash in the way that you do. It is also worth remembering that many people have something associated with their bodies that they are not happy with. This doesn't need to affect your self-esteem so you might find it useful to find out more about body image and self-esteem.
