Question

My sex drive seems to be getting lower and lower at the moment. I don't understand it, can you tell me what's causing this? Is there anything I can do get my libido back to normal?

Answer

There could be number of other reasons why your sex drive has lowered. Anxiety, stress, tiredness, the use of prescribed drugs, not being happy in a relationship, poor diet and too much alcohol can all be possible factors.

There are things you can do to try and heighten your sex drive, like making sure you maintain a healthy lifestyle. This means having a good diet, taking moderate exercise, making sure you get enough rest and keeping stress to a minimum.

If you currently have a partner, try to address any issues you may have within the relationship, and be sure to keep the lines of communication open with your partner.

There are herbal supplements available that claim to help boost sex drive. You can read about them in an article on the ivillage website.

Try not to worry too much about this, but if you are really concerned then you could approach your local doctor (GP). They will be able to determine if there is a medical reason behind the reduction in your sex drive, and if so, advise you of treatments available.
