Sandra moderates live chat every other Thursday and fills the rest of her time with singing, writing short stories and lots more!
What's been your most memorable experience as a moderator?
That would have to be the time when my computer crashed twice in the same chat! I got someone's name wrong and, well, the list goes on...
Do you ever have any difficulty balancing TheSite.org's editorial line with your own personal beliefs, how do you deal with this?
Most of the time the chat is really fast paced so I'm not granted too many opportunities to leap astride my soap box. However, the people who come into chat, when I'm there, rarely make any offensive comments.
What do you do other than moderating?
I'm training to be an opera singer and, in the mean time, sing at various charity events, weddings and other social celebrations. I've also just been in a musical.
I play the piano, using Braille music, and am persuading my coach to get into jazz. When I'm not frequenting West End theatres, restaurants and cinemas with my friends and family, the soaps keep me glued to the television and radio.
I have to say that I prefer reading Marlowe and Shakespeare to the Mitchells antics. Writing short stories acts as an amusing pastime and, if tedium sets in, there's always housework on the horizon!
If you had to be locked in a lift with another person who would it be and why?
That's easy, Maria Callas of course! Incredible voice, brilliant sense of drama, boundless intelligence and unbelievable gift for languages. Aside, she could give me her take on text speak, fun sized chocolate bars and the Arctic Monkeys.
"Moderating is unlike anything I've ever done before and I really enjoy it. It's definitely taught me how to be more patient with people."
If you could change peoples' opinions on one subject, what would it be and why?
Hmm, this is my moment to say something deep and meaningful isn't it?
On second thoughts, I'd like to say that the Jedward phenomenon can be appreciated whether you're sighted or not!
If you could set up a new feature in the chat room what would it be?
I'd borrow JK Rowling's 'time-turner' so I could go backwards and forwards, changing what I actually said to something amazing every time.
How does being a moderator fit with your career aims, if at all?
My ultimate aim is to be the principle soprano in La Scala Milan so moderating doesnt really help with that. However, it's unlike anything I've ever done before and I really enjoy it. It's definitely taught me how to be more patient with people.
What's your favourite topic to talk about in chat?
So far, I'd say it has to be the X-Factor. Any singing discussion, however remote, will guarantee my tuppence worth being thrown in.
If I was... I'd be a... because...
If I were a taller person than my five foot two and a halfish, let's say a graceful six feet tall, (like the previous generation of my family), I'd spend my life clipping doorframes with my head!
