Online Mentoring
93 Locations
Horsesmouth
Horsesmouth is a safe, purpose-built, confidential website for informal e-mentoring. We are looking for anyone who has an experience to share and is aged sixteen plus to volunteer and become a mentor. At sixteen or indeed 60 you may be wondering what qualifies you to be a mentor. Well you don't have to have any training or qualifications. Horsesmouth is not a professional advisory service. What it is, however, is a sounding board for those occasions in life when people really want to talk to someone whos been there and done that. So, if you have some time to spare (10 minutes or 10 hours) you can help support and inspire others by registering as a mentor. From starting a business to starting a family; from life with cancer to life as a carer; from which A level, NVQ or undergraduate course to whither an MBA; someone needs what you know. As a mentor you will be asked to complete a fairly thought provoking questionnaire. It shouldnt take any longer than 15 minutes to complete, but after its been approved you can get online and respond to calls for help.A key principle of the Horsesmouth site is that we all have something to give and gain so in addition to mentoring someone, you may find your own mentor on Horsesmouth.

vinvolved Coventry (VAC)
The Youth Action Team is a group made up of young volunteers aged 16-25 who help develop, influence and support the vinvolved teams activity in Coventry. We are now launching a new role Virtual YAT.vinvolved rely heavily on the important input that young people give them through their YAT roles. However, not everyone can commit to attending all the meetings required for many of the roles. The Virtual YAT role will allow you to have your say and be consulted on a range of ideas and activities presented by the vinvolved team. This could involve you identifying a community issue and highlighting what activities you want locally to tackle the issues. The YAT also have a budget so you could have your say on how that budget is spent to develop youth volunteering in Coventry. The beauty of this role is that its all virtual, you may be required to respond to emails or online survey without even leaving your bedroom and you can still work toward gaining your national v awards and the many incentives vinvolved Coventry offer their young volunteers.

Have Your Say, Because It's Your Ambulance Service

Changemakers Perry Barr Constituency
West Midlands Ambulance Service is planning to become a Foundation Trust, which means that everyone living in the West Midlands region can have a say in how the service develops. Foundation Trusts are still part of the NHS and they continue to provide a free service to everyone. Our vision for Foundation Trusts status revolves around two words...Community: Ensuring that we develop our service based on the views of the people we serve.Quality: Delivering more choice, better facilities and improved services for our patients.CommunityFoundation Trusts are far more accountable to the communities that they serve. They are similar to the Cooperative movement, being membership organisations. In our case we are looking for at least 2000 people to join us as a 'member' and, what's more, it's completely free! As well as scrutinising our governance, our members will be involved in the future development of our services. We want to make sure they represent the Region by geography, age and ethnicity.QualityFoundation Trusts still have to meet exacting national standards. We would still be assessed by the Quality Care Commission and also meet the rigorous standards set down by the Monitor, the independent regulator of Foundation Trusts. In the main, Foundation Trusts are the highest performing NHS organisations with the best clinical standards. What next? We hope to formally consult about our proposals between January and March 2010. There is a leaflet explaining a bit more about the Foundation Trusts at the website www.wmas.nhs.uk. This is a virtual opportunity, so it will involve little or no travel and can fit around your free time.
