Seamstress/Tailor

Oxfam Corporate Sourcing (Ealing Office)

Oxfam relies on donations from kind individuals and businesses to sell in our shops. All profit from the sale of these donations is used to help Oxfam fight poverty around the world. People who donate to Oxfam are being 'green' too because it means they are reducing landfill at the same time.Sometimes we receive particularly high quality or designer clothes where there might be a button missing or a broken zip, torn seam or undone hem on an otherwise perfectly saleable garment. We are looking for a volunteer, with their own sewing machine, who would like to carry out these repairs in their own time. This can be done at our office (if practicable) or in their own home.

Website Designer

Future for Africa

Do you have web design skills, and some spare time to help a small charity to develop its presence on the internet? Future for Africa is a small charity that funds projects in rural Cameroon. Our website is increasingly important for raising awareness with potential donors, and also with projects in Cameroon which may need our help. Our current website (www.futureforafrica.org.uk <http://www.futureforafrica.org.uk>) is a few years old, and is in need of a makeover! We would like someone with web design skills to re-design our website, working closely with our board of trustees. We are looking for someone who would be able to do this volunteer role from home, as we do not have an office; all our money is spent on funding projects in Cameroon. We initially need someone on a short-term basis to design the new website, but there would be scope to stay involved or to take on new challenges within our organisation, for anyone who is interested.

From starting a business to starting a family; from life with cancer to life as a carer; from which A level, NVQ or undergraduate course to whither an MBA; someone needs what you know. As a mentor you will be asked to complete a fairly thought provoking questionnaire. It shouldnt take any longer than 15 minutes to complete, but after its been approved you can get online and respond to calls for help.A key principle of the Horsesmouth site is that we all have something to give and gain so in addition to mentoring someone, you may find your own mentor on Horsesmouth.
