The effects:
- Cocaine produces a short burst of feelings of well-being and euphoria;
- Anxiety, paranoia, depression and insomnia can occur during the come-down;
- Other effects can include tremors, muscle twitching, rapid pulse, nausea, anxiety, over-confidence, high blood pressure, cold sweats, and mood swings.
The risks:
- Snorting cocaine can cause chronic sneezing, nosebleeds, and nasal congestion;
- Repeated snorting can cause serious damage to the nose and nostrils;
- If pregnant, cocaine can cause bleeding, miscarriage and an increased risk of stillbirth;
- Users can develop a strong psychological dependence on cocaine;
- Overdose is possible, and can be fatal.
