The effects:

• Cocaine produces a short burst of feelings of well-being and euphoria;
• Anxiety, paranoia, depression and insomnia can occur during the come-down;
• Other effects can include tremors, muscle twitching, rapid pulse, nausea, anxiety, over-confidence, high blood pressure, cold sweats, and mood swings.

The risks:

• Snorting cocaine can cause chronic sneezing, nosebleeds, and nasal congestion;
• Repeated snorting can cause serious damage to the nose and nostrils;
• If pregnant, cocaine can cause bleeding, miscarriage and an increased risk of stillbirth;
• Users can develop a strong psychological dependence on cocaine;
• Overdose is possible, and can be fatal.
