Question
I had a joint account with my ex. Before we split up she withdrew money without me knowing. Is there any way to get the money returned?
Answer
Unfortunately, because it was a joint account it's presumed that any money in the account belongs to both of the account holders. There is no legal bar on either partner withdrawing money and nor is there any legal way to get the money back.
The only exception is when only one person has been paying money into the account, in such a situation you might be able to take your ex to the small claims court as she would find it very difficult to prove she had any right to the cash.
