Card fraud fury

Question

My credit card has been used fraudulently, and yet my bank has let me down badly. They stopped my card, but I'm being charged interest on money I didnt spend. What can I do to sort it?

Answer

The Consumer Credit Act 1974 and the European E-commerce Directive 2002 ensure that all consumers are protected from fraud whenever they use their credit cards (as long as they took reasonable care).

That means, unless you acted irresponsibly with your card details ,you should not be charged interest for any money spent fraudulently .

Try speaking to your bank to clarify the situation. You can also get advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).
