Tagged for life?

Question

I've got what I've been told is a skin tag on my back. It never caused me any problems until it started to get bigger recently. Should I be worried?

Answer

Skin tags are common and are usually not a cause for concern. But people do often have them removed because they don't like the look of them, or even for practical reasons, e.g. it's rubbing against clothing.

It's worth getting any sort of change to skin lesions, i.e. mole, birthmark or skin tag, checked out by your local doctor (GP). This can include changes to its shape, colour or size.

A doctor will be able to examine the skin tag and advise you about whether it's worth getting it removed.
