Sperm improvement

Question

My semen has become more 'lumpy' and less fluid than it used to be. It doesn't cause me any pain or discomfort and apart from the thicker consistency doesn't look any different than before.

The only problem is my partner finds it a big turn off, is there anything I can do to change it back?

Answer

The consistency of semen can change over time for the same man and gel-like blobs are quite normal and nothing to worry about. In fact, semen is supposed to clot immediately after ejaculation.

Lifestyle and diet can also have a dramatic effect on semen. A good balanced diet can only help, and regular exercise is beneficial but even more important is to avoid smoking, taking recreational drugs and drinking only moderate amounts of alcohol. So basically, keep your sperm healthy by keeping yourself healthy.

To find out more, you can have a look at our semen facts and if you're still concerned, a quick visit to your local doctor (GP) should reassure you about what has been happening.
