Testing troubles

Question

I recently hung out with some friends who were smoking marijuana. I took two hits from a pipe but I don't even know if there was anything in it. I haven't tried any other drugs, and this is the first time I've smoked pot. The thing is, I really need to know how long will it take for it to get out of my system so I can take a drug test. Will the fact I hang out with people who smoke pot make the test positive?

Answer

It's common for people who have friends that smoke marijuana (cannabis) to be tempted to try some, and pretty much everyone is a little scared the first time they try drugs. You have some really important concerns and it's a good thing you're trying to find out more information.

First of all, it's essential that you know the risks, effects and laws relating to marijuana use. This will help you to make an informed choice about whether or not you want to smoke again. You will also know what to expect if you do decide to try it again.

You mentioned that you didn't know if there was anything in the pipe. This is one of the greatest dangers of sharing drugs with other people, particularly cannabis. Some people mix drugs with each other to enhance the high. It is very important that you know what's in a pipe (or spliff, or bong) before you smoke.

The length of time that drugs stay in your body varies according to your metabolism. Infrequent users with a fast metabolism will have the shortest detection time, whilst frequent users with a slow metabolism will have long detection times. Therefore, an estimated time that cannabis stays in your system is from three to 30 days. A drug test would only pick up the drugs that have been used by you and are in your system.
