Question

My boyfriend recently took a combination of liquid LSD and two ecstasy pills. He claims he can't remember the events of the evening. Is this possible?

Basically, he kissed another girl while under the influence of these drugs even though he's always been dead against cheating. He says he can't remember any of it so I just don't know what to do.

Answer

Mixing drugs is dangerous for various reasons because different drugs affect people in different ways and may not be what they seem. For example, it is likely that what is sold as ecstasy may actually have very little or no ecstasy in it because pills can be made with cheaper drugs like amphetamine, ketamine or caffeine. Therefore, your boyfriend may have taken some other drug in addition to the LSD and ecstasy he thought he was taking.

One of the other dangers of taking drugs is that you might do things, or take risks you wouldn't otherwise, because your mental and emotional states are altered. So it might be a good idea to have a talk with your boyfriend about your concerns. It must be scary for him to have forgotten the events of a whole evening.

Finding out more about drugs, what they do, look like and the law is a good first step. Then you might want to think about what you want to say to your boyfriend. Maybe write down a few points and think about how it will sound to him. Will he think you're judging him or jumping to conclusions? Or will he think you're concerned and want to work it out? Think carefully about what you say and how you say it.
