What's been your most memorable experience as a moderator?

Well I am a relatively new moderator compared to some people here, but it would probably be the time I put up a thread about a rant that I edited about the NHS - it seems a lot of you have quite a few opinions on our blessed National Health Service!

Do you ever have any difficulty balancing TheSite.org's editorial line with your own personal beliefs, how do you deal with this?

No not at all, I've been trained in journalism to be impartial so it comes with the territory.

What do you do other than moderating?

I'm a journalist at TheSite.org and in charge of the sex and relationships and home, law and money sections. I work with the lovely Kimono and Spanner and we have a fantastic time typing away, thinking of new ideas for articles and trying not to eat too many sweets that are always going round the office.

If you had to be locked in a lift with another person who would it be and why?

God that's a hard one - well I guess because I have pretty bad claustrophobia and hate being in a lift on my own anyway, let alone being stuck in one, it would need to be someone who could calm me down and stop me having a panic attack or peeing my pants. So I'd say...Davina Mccall. Ok so my boyfriend has a crush on her (so I'd make sure I checked out all the flaws and reported them back to him) but she's a very funny lady and could tell me all the gossip about Big Brother and about the stars she's met.

If you could change peoples' opinions on one subject, what would it be and why?

"Baked beans are the most disgusting, slimy, puke inducing thing I have ever been forced to eat at the age of eight and I am still traumatised by the experience now."

That baked beans are nice. They are not, they are the most disgusting, slimy, puke inducing thing I have ever been forced to eat at the age of eight and I am still traumatised by the experience now. And they make you fart. Apparently.

Do you learn from the posters' experiences?

Yes definitely - I see how some people react in situations and it makes me realise it's best to stay calm in stressy situations and to listen to other people's advice, but ultimately to go with your own instincts as no one knows you better than you know yourself.

If you could set up one new forum what would it be?

Animals - a chance for us all to post pictures of our pets and talk about when they do something cute, like the other day when my guinea-pig came up to the bars and stuck her tongue through the mesh...OK I made that up, she doesn't do all that much generally apart from eat, poo, wee and chew on wood but she looks sweet and makes funny noises.

How does being a moderator fit with your career aims, if at all?

Well I think being a journo it fits in brilliantly, especially on TheSite where our articles are written in a way that offers advice and information, and of course we are always keen to sign post back to any information we've written that may help a user.

What's your favourite thread?

Probably the one on leggings - all the poster wanted to know was where to get some leggings and she got some hilarious replies. For someone who is loving the legging look (covers you up on a fat day, keeps you warm and looks good with heels) it made quite a funny read, when I don't think it was supposed to be!

If I was... I'd be a... because....
If I was braver I'd be a pilot because I hate flying and I want to know how on earth that big thing of metal stays in the sky.
