Chloe is a live chat mod who hosts sessions every other Sunday evening. Here she shares her views on unnecessary stigmas and plans for the future.
What has been your most memorable experience as a moderator?
I think every live chat has its memorable moments, from the wonderfully annoying llama song I was introduced to, to feeling that what you have said has really made a difference to someone. I think that is probably the best thing about chat.
Do you ever have any difficulty balancing TheSite.org's editorial line with your own personal beliefs, how do you deal with this?
I believe Thesite.org offers an amazing service to young people so I don't have any difficulties there. Everyone has their own opinions and it's important to embrace that as it can give you an alternate outlook on life that you may not have considered before. I find it inspiring to listen to the views of others; you never know what you might learn!
What do you do other than moderating?
At the moment I work part time in a shoe shop, which I enjoy even though I end up spending a lot of my wages on shoes! I have recently graduated from University so I am currently looking for a full time job and eventually would like to become a clinical psychologist.
If you had to be locked in a lift with another person who would it be and why?
An escapologist who may be able to give me some tips on how to get out?
If you could change peoples' opinions on one subject, what would it be and why?
Mental health problems. There is still an unnecessary stigma attached to mental health considering it affects the lives of so many people. I believe it is a part of what makes us all human and that it is better to feel something than to be numb.

Do you learn from the users experiences?
It is interesting to hear about their experiences and it can make you think about you deal with things in your own life. I think it's important to take something from every chat session to try and improve for next time.
If you could set up a new feature in the chat room what would it be?
I agree with WayneS, a random topic generator would be so useful! And a computer expert on hand to iron out any technical hitches quickly.
How does being a moderator fit with your career aims, if at all?
I like to help people to feel good about themselves and offer support and a listening ear. Being a moderator allows me to gain practical experience of using my skills to help others.
What's your favourite topic to talk about in chat?
I like creative and philosophical conversations about people's beliefs and the things that they are passionate about.
If I was... I'd be a... because...
If I was a cartoon character I would be Tinkerbell because I'm little, I like sparkly things and I may be a little bit obsessed with fairies!
