Religion

How important is it to you and can mixed religion relationships work? TheSite finds out.

Jenny

Jenny, 19 Have you ever been in a mixed religion relationship? I am a Christian but it's not a major part of my life; I don't go to church very often. I have been out with people from different religions but I think when you're younger it's not an issue. I think it becomes more of a problem when you want to get married.

Raj

Raj, 26 Is religion a big part of your life? Only when I need it to be, I was brought up in a very religious family and I used to be really religious but I've lapsed. If I've got an exam then I'll pray the night before but otherwise, no. Can mixed religion relationships work? I have always had relationships with people from other religions and it hasn't been a big problem, but I don't think they can work when one person is a very strong believer, because most religions have conflicting ideas. Relationships require compromise and, in my experience, people who are very religious don't compromise.

Hayley

Hayley, 25 Would you have a relationship with someone of a different religion? I would go out with someone who was religious. It wouldn't bother me as long as they didn't try to impose their beliefs on me. I think mixed religion relationships can work as long as you don't try to change each other.

Neil

Neil, 28 Can mixed religion relationships work? I don't know if they can work, it depends if the religious person tries to force their religion on to the other, demanding they act in a certain way.

Amy

Amy, 18 Is religion a big part of your life? No, I'm not religious - I used to go to church every Sunday but not anymore. Can mixed religion relationships work? I don't see it as a problem. I know loads of people who have been out with people from different religions. It's like any relationship; there are always problems you have to get over.
