We have changed the way video content is displayed on TheSite.org. On article pages we embed videos from our YouTube channel. Within the Audio and Video section, we have kept our existing media player.
There is no video or sound
You may not have the Flash Player installed on your computer. You can download it free here. If you've already got Flash Player, it may be disabled on your web browser, so you'll need to check your browser settings to enable it.
The video pauses intermittently
It may be due to your internet connection and speed. If you do not have broadband you may experience difficulties watching the videos. Your computer may also experience problems if you're downloading a large file and watching videos simultaneously. If you have a broadband connection, try closing some programs and replay the video again.
There is video but no sound
Your volume settings may need readjusting. First, check the sound on the video player isn't turned down - it's located at the bottom right of the player. If that's not the problem you may need to adjust the settings on your computer by going to the control panel and selecting 'sounds, speech and audio devices'.
Can I put TheSite.org videos on my website or blog?
Yes, all the videos made by TheSite.org are uploaded to our YouTube channel. Copy the embed code from the YouTube watch page. Some videos on TheSite are branded with other logos, such as VideoJug, which means they are made by other organisations. You won't be able to put these on your own website.
Is there any legal information I should be aware of when using the videos?
Yes, the multimedia files available through our Audio & Video section are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unreported license. For details of how this differs from the standard permissions for TheSite.org materials please see our detailed information on multimedia files. Please note that this applies only to the audio and video content created by TheSite.org.
Can I upload a video?
We don't currently have a user-upload area for the videos. This is something we hope to introduce in the future.
Can I rate or comment on a video?
Yes, if you go to our YouTube channel you can rate and comment on videos there.
You still haven't answered my question
There's no pleasing some people. Luckily we're nice enough to have set up a special forum just for you.
